Douglas Ray Ison

Douglas Ray Ison went home to be with the Lord on March 14, 2023 at his home in Rush, KY. Doug was the Pastor at Eastview Baptist Church in Huntington, WV, where he loved his church and church family dearly. 

Doug was the son of the late Reuben Isaac Ison and Jewell Holbrook Ison. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers James Randall Ison and Reuben Ison, Jr.; sister Kathy Williamson; nephews Jamie Ison, Jeff Ison; and niece Emily Ison. 

Doug is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Marlene Ison; children James Douglas (Jennifer) Ison of Louisa, KY, Amity (Jason) Hinkle of Rush, KY, Michelle (Steve) Wright of Blaine, KY, Kim (Jay) Fouch of Coshocton, OH, April Gibson of Rush, KY, Savannah Gibson of Rush, KY, and Brooklyn Ison of Rush, KY. He also leaves behind a very special friend he loved as a son David Accord; sisters Ellen Templeman of Columbus, OH, Ella Brown of Fairborn, OH, Anna Ison of Ashland, KY, and Velta (Darrell) Blevins of Middletown, OH; brother David (Freda) Ison of Prichard, WV; grandchildren Kaylee (Brandon) Ison, Brittney (CJ) Hensley, Sydney (Gage) Naylor, Steve "Doodle" (Brianna) Wright, Brooklyn (Chris) Prater, Preston (Selena) Wright, Dennis Adkins, Riccilynn (Jordon) Taylor and Zach Fouch; 19 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews he loved dearly. 

His grandchildren and nephews will serve as pallbearers. 

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 17, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Eastview Baptist Church, 1840 West Road, Huntington, WV 25704 with Brother Jerry Patrick, Brother Danny Sampson, and Brother Pete Evans officiating. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 93 Honor Guard at the Church. Burial will follow in the Anthony Ison Cemetery in Morgan County, KY. Friends may visit the family on Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Eastview Baptist Church. Church services will begin at 7:00 PM with Brother Rodney McDowell presiding.
