James Daniel McKinney

James Daniel McKinney, 85, of Adams, KY went home to be with the Lord at his home on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. James was born March 15, 1936 in Pikeville, KY to the late William and Edna (McGuire) McKinney. James was a Christian and was baptized at Saltpetre Church in Fort Gay, WV. He was a hardworking man that loved his family. James enjoyed gardening and hunting ginseng. 

James was preceded in death by his son James William McKinney; stepdaughter Debbie Stevens; sister Zelle Sumpter; brothers Dave McKinney, Boyd McKinney, Carl McKinney, Max McKinney, and Charles McKinney; and ex-wife Priscilla Slone McKinney. 

Survivors include his children Eddie Ray (Judith) McKinney, Charlene McKinney Edouard, Edna McKinney Fletcher, Thomas Kirby McKinney, Mary (Josh) Hay, and Riley Burchett; stepchildren Dorothy Hogston, Mike (Erica) McKinney, Denise (Miguel) Medina, Don (Rose) Campbell; a special son in law he loved like his own son Lewis Fletcher; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister Connie Copper; and ex-wife Ruth Elizabeth Burchett McKinney.  

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, December 12, 2021 at 2:00 PM in the Young Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick May officiating. Burial will follow in the McKinney Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Friday, December 10, 2021 after 5:00 PM in the Young Funeral Home until time of service on Sunday.
