MaeDell Williams Obituary

Mrs. MaeDell Williams, 95, of Columbus OH, formerly of Burlington, OH was called home by her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 2:45 PM at Riverside Hospital Columbus, OH. She was born December 28, 1928 in Athens, AL to the late John R. Black and Ollie Moe Collier Black. She graduated from Aracoma High School in Logan, WV. She then moved to Burlington, where she worked for C&O Hospital and later retired from Corbin Ltd. MaeDell accepted Christ in to her life at a young age and became a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Burlington for over 50 years, serving in many capacities, including church clerk, a member of the Mass and Senior Choir. 

She was a volunteer and representative for Chesapeake Mission Outreach. She was also a faithful member of Providence and Regular Missionary Baptist Association. She also taught Sunday School and BTU classes, she served as a Delegate and Recipient of the Distinguished Trailblazer Award. Mae was head of the kitchen committee here at First Baptist Church of Burlington where her motto was "Don't Stir the Green Beans!"

She served wherever she could throughout the community and volunteered her time as a member of the Concerned Citizens of Burlington. She also worked at the board of election polls for Lawrence County Board of Education. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dock Williams; two brothers James R. Black and Ronald L. Black; four sisters Lorraine Deering, Thelma Coleman, Ellie Jean Jackson, and Jewell L. Webster. 

She leaves to cherish her loving memories two sons Jeffrey Cornell Williams and Jeffrey C. Williams, both of Columbus, OH; granddaughter Shykara Garrett of Huntington, WV; grandson Isaiah Turner of Charlotte, NC; great granddaughters Allynna Garrett and Jayda Garrett, both of Huntington, WV; great grandson De'Maurean Garrett of Huntington, WV; great great granddaughters Ahmylah Taylor and Shylyn Garrett-Lewis of Huntington, WV; Ms. Dee Q. Hassan, her home health care aid of Columbus, OH; a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who loved her dearly and she will truly be missed by all who called her Aunt MaeMae, Ms. MaeDell, Mom and Baby Doll, but God knew her best and called his faithful servant home to rest. 

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Burlington with Pastor Kaigler officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 11:00 AM until time of service at First Baptist Church of Burlington.
