Maurice Pleasant, 85, of Burlington, OH went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV. Maurice was born July 30, 1935 to the late Owen and Emogene Pleasant.
Maurice attended South Point High School where he was active in basketball, track, and football. He played both linebacker and halfback positions on the football team. His athletic ability was good enough the Jackson State College in Mississippi offered him a scholarship. Due to racial tension in Mississippi at the time, his father decided he should stay home and work in the family business. Maurice worked for his father's cleaning service and eventually operated a large neighborhood full service gas station before coming back to the area.
Maurice never met a stranger and would take this shirt off his back to help anyone.
In addition to his parents, Maurice was preceded in death by two children, Baby Boy Pleasant and Baby Girl Pleasant.
Maurice is survived by his three loving sons Michael (Fran) Pleasant, Maurice (Kelly) Pleasant, Jr, and Marvin (Kendall) Pleasant; grandchildren Kadence Pleasant, Mariah Pleasant, and Jordan Pleasant and Latoya; a special nephew Charles Pleasant, Jr. that lived with him and helped care for him; special cousin Keith "Ki-Ki" Pleasant; special cousin Marlene Rector that was always there for him; and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him.
