VILLIA "JOYCE" SCARBERRY, 86, of Louisa, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester, Kentucky, after a brief illness. Joyce was born on May 13, 1926 in Fort Gay to the late Wallace and Pearl Salisbury Peck. She had six siblings which predeceased her, and one surviving sister, Ardith Copley of Fort Gay, West Virginia. Joyce was known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. Her signature gift of honesty will never be forgotten. Joyce married her sweetheart, the love of her life and soul mate, James "Bud" Scarberry, and the couple was married on March 6, 1948, and were never far apart from one another. Married for 64 years, Bud and Joyce raised their 3 dear children, Pat, David, and Beverly. Joyce faithfully cared for family and friends through her delicious cooking/baking from scratch- including her signature apple pie. Joyce loved to chat with friends and family, gardening, quilting, traveling, and especially loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She was the heart of the family. Her surviving family members include, her husband of 64 years, James "Bud" Scarberry of Louisa, Ky.; Mother of 3 children and spouses, Patricia (Jerry) Derifield of Louisa, Ky.; David (Norma) Scarberry of Georgetown, Ky.; and Beverly (Richard) Pope of Winchester, Ky.; Grandmother to 5, Brad (Angel) Derifield, Kelli (Brian) Blair, Justin (Shana) Scarberry, Sarah Pope and Rikki Pope. Great-Grandmother to 6, Jake and Gray Derifield, Brylee and Beau Blair, Corbin Lee and Lelani Floyd. Visitation for friends and family was Friday, November 9th from noon til 2 p.m. at Young Funeral Home Chapel, services followed. Burial was at Greenlawn Cemetery. Young Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support in many heart-felt forms- either through prayer and/or visits, neighbors, and even random acts of kindness. Joyce will forever be remembered as Our Angel that lived, laughed, and loved. Her legacy will live on in each life that was touched by her.
